Position Overview
Xerox is seeking a driven and curious Cybersecurity Architecture & Engineering Intern to join our enterprise security team for a summer internship. This position offers hands-on exposure to cloud security architecture, email authentication systems, and infrastructure security—the foundational knowledge required for a career in enterprise cybersecurity. You will work alongside experienced security architects and engineers on real-world projects while building fundamental technical competencies in cloud platforms, security frameworks, and industry best practices.
This internship is designed for students with strong foundational knowledge in computer science or information security who are eager to learn from practitioners at a Fortune 500 company. We expect you to be intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and comfortable learning quickly in a fast-paced enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

Core Technical Work
Email Security & Authentication: Assist in managing and auditing email authentication protocols (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, BIMI). Monitor deployment configurations, analyze authentication failures, and document findings under mentorship.
  • Cloud Security Documentation: Support the documentation and visualization of cloud security architectures (Microsoft 365, Azure). Create diagrams and assist with security control mappings to regulatory frameworks.
  • Security Tool Administration: Work with security platforms to perform basic administrative tasks under close supervision.
  • Infrastructure Assessment: Participate in security assessments and vulnerability reviews of on-premises and cloud infrastructure. Document findings and assist in remediation planning.
Learning & Development
  • Mentorship: Receive structured mentorship from senior security architects. Weekly 1:1s will focus on knowledge transfer and skill development.
  • Production Environments: Build hands-on skills in production environments using Microsoft 365, Azure, and PowerShell scripting.
  • Project Contribution: Contribute to an assigned strategic project with clear deliverables (e.g., email authentication audit, security architecture diagram, compliance assessment support).
  • Knowledge Building: Study and present on assigned security topics (e.g., DMARC deployment, cloud identity architecture, ransomware defense strategies).
Administrative & Process Support
  • Documentation: Assist in updating security policies, procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Data Collection: Support data gathering for security audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews.
  • Meeting Support: Attend and document key meetings; assist in tracking action items and project progress.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field. 
  • Technical Foundation:
    • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, firewalls).
    • Basic knowledge of cloud computing concepts and familiarity with at least one major cloud provider (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud preferred).
    • Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals: CIA triad, authentication/authorization, encryption basics, common threat types.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with experienced professionals.
    • Self-directed learner who can research and troubleshoot independently.
    • Attention to detail and ability to work accurately with complex information.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical:
    • Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Azure AD/Entra) or similar cloud email platforms.
    • Familiarity with PowerShell scripting or another automation language (Python, bash).
    • Understanding of email authentication protocols (SPF, DKIM, DMARC).
    • Prior experience with security tools, SIEM platforms, or cloud security services.
    • Knowledge of compliance frameworks (NIST, FedRAMP, HIPAA, PCI-DSS) or security standards (ISO 27001).
