manage Position Overview:

The Manufacturing Plant Operations Manager will be responsible for the overall management of daily operations within the manufacturing facility. This includes managing production schedules, ensuring safety and compliance, overseeing plant maintenance, and leading unionized production teams. The ideal candidate will have experience in unionized environments and a strong background in manufacturing operations, including leadership, process improvement, and managing labor relations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operations Oversight: Manage day-to-day operations of the plant, including production scheduling, quality control, inventory management and planning, ensuring efficient workflows and on-time delivery of products.
  • Union Relations & Negotiations: Act as the primary liaison between management and union workforce. Facilitate effective communication and resolve conflicts or grievances in a timely and professional manner. Ensure compliance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse workforce in a unionized setting. Promote a positive work environment, motivating employees to meet production goals and maintaining a high standard of morale and collaboration.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to OSHA regulations, industry safety standards, and the Xerox safety protocols. Promote safety awareness and oversee regular safety training for all employees.
  • Performance Management: Monitor plant performance, establish KPIs, and ensure that production targets are met. Implement corrective actions where necessary and collaborate with management team to improve plant performance.
  • Labor Scheduling: Oversee shift and overtime scheduling, ensuring adequate staffing levels while complying with union rules and the collective bargaining agreement.  Manage time reporting and submit accurate records to payroll.
  • Process Improvement: Implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles to optimize productivity, minimize downtime, and reduce waste.
  • Maintenance & Equipment Management: Ensure the plant’s equipment is maintained to the highest standards, minimizing downtime and ensuring production continuity.  Provide support to engineering to maintain equipment and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Conflict Resolution: Proactively address and resolve employee issues, disputes, or grievances in accordance with the union agreement and company policies, fostering a cooperative and productive work environment.
  • Reporting: Regularly report on production performance, safety, labor relations, and other operational metrics.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations management.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws and application of collective bargaining agreements (CBA).
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience in managing teams.
  • In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and production planning.
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work effectively with union representatives and other stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and best practices in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proficiency with manufacturing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Position has safety-sensitive job duties as defined in the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act and candidates will be screened as part of the pre-employment drug screen.
