Position Summary

The Pre-Sales Lead – Field Services serves as the operational and technical leader for the Field Services presales organization. This is a player/coach role responsible for both leading the team's day-to-day presales operations and directly supporting strategic opportunities.

The role owns presales execution, proposal quality, service-level agreement (SLA) compliance, process standardization, pipeline visibility, and team development. The Presales Lead partners closely with Sales, Delivery, PMO, Engineering, and Operations to ensure opportunities are accurately scoped, professionally documented, and transitioned efficiently into delivery.

In addition to leadership responsibilities, the role maintains an active presales workload, supporting client discovery, solution design, ROM development, SOW creation, and executive customer engagement.

Purpose of the Role

  • Serve as the operational owner of the Field Services pre-sales function.
  • Prioritize and assign opportunities based on complexity, urgency, revenue impact, and resource availability.
  • Review pipeline health, opportunity aging, proposal backlog, and SLA adherence.
  • Develop operational reporting and dashboards to improve visibility into presales performance.
  • Recommend staffing, process, and organizational improvements to support growth.
  • Improve proposal turnaround time and SLA performance.
  • Standardize pre-sales processes, documentation, and quality controls.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex opportunities and client requirements.
  • Coach and develop the presales team.
  • Provide technical and operational leadership across the sales lifecycle.
  • Establish measurable accountability, visibility, and reporting within the pre-sales organization.

Strategic Sales Partnership

  • Partner with Sales leadership to improve qualification, pricing strategy, and opportunity selection.
  • Participate in executive customer discussions and strategic client pursuits.
  • Improve conversion rates through stronger solution alignment and proposal quality.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to Sales leadership regarding service capabilities and resource planning.

Requirements

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in IT services, Field Services, infrastructure deployment, managed services, or technical project delivery.
  • 3+ years in a presales, solution design, services consulting, or technical leadership role.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and coordinating efforts across Sales, Delivery, PMO, Engineering, and Operations.
  • Demonstrated success developing Statements of Work (SOWs), ROM estimates, project scoping, pricing models, and service proposals.
  • Experience supporting enterprise clients and managing complex, multi-site technology deployments.
  • Prior leadership experience managing resources, workflows, SLAs, and performance metrics preferred.
