Director, Government Affairs – US & LATAM

 

Xerox is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Director, Government Affairs – US & LATAM to support the Legal Department and executive leadership. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, this role leads US & LATAM government affairs initiatives, advises on policy issues affecting the business, and represents the company before government officials and industry partners.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a US & LATAM government affairs strategy aligned with business priorities.
  • Provide regular briefings to executive leadership on legislative developments, policy trends, and advocacy efforts.
  • Ensure policy positions and messaging are consistent across international markets.

Legislative & Regulatory Engagement

  • Monitor and assess federal, state, local, and international legislation and regulations impacting Xerox.
  • Collaborate with internal legal and regulatory teams to evaluate business implications.
  • Draft policy briefs, testimony, and other advocacy materials.

Advocacy & Representation

  • Represent Xerox before legislators, regulators, and key government stakeholders.
  • Lead engagement with bill sponsors, committee staff, and agency officials to advance Xerox’s policy objectives.
  • Manage external consultants, lobbyists, and industry coalitions.

Coalition & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with industry partners, trade associations (e.g., ITI, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, NAM, Business Roundtable), and local chambers of commerce.
  • Lead or participate in coalitions focused on issues such as trade controls, intellectual property, supply chain policy, ESG/sustainability, and right‑to‑repair legislation.

Compliance & Risk Mitigation

  • Ensure compliance with lobbying, reporting, and political contribution requirements.
  • Oversee strategy and governance for the Xerox PAC.
  • Identify and mitigate regulatory and geopolitical risks.

Communications & Issues Management

  • Serve as a spokesperson on government affairs matters.
  • Develop clear, persuasive messaging for policymakers, industry partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide timely analysis of emerging issues and geopolitical trends.
  • Support crisis response efforts in coordination with legal and senior leadership.

Operational & Budget Oversight

  • Manage the government affairs budget, including lobbying expenses, association memberships, and consultant contracts.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in political science, international affairs, history, or related field required; advanced degree (MA/MS or JD) preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or related roles; Capitol Hill or comparable corporate/association experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of global regulatory frameworks and technology‑related policy issues (e.g., IP, export controls, data privacy, cybersecurity).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute advocacy strategies and to work effectively with senior executives, policymakers, and industry leaders.
  • Ability to travel 50-75%
