About Xerox AI Center of Excellence

The Xerox AI Center of Excellence (AI CoE) is responsible for delivering material, measurable business impact through artificial intelligence. Our work spans generative AI, agentic systems, enterprise AI platforms, and operational transformation.

At Xerox, AI success is not measured by models deployed, but by value realized. We believe that AI ROI is ultimately a human problem—not because ROI is soft, but because value depends on adoption, workflow integration, incentives, and execution. Our goal is for AI to deliver meaningful value for both our customers and our employees, not technology for its own sake.

Why This Role Matters

At Xerox, our goal is for AI to deliver meaningful value to both our customers and our employees. This role exists because technology alone does not create value—people do.

Role Overview

The Business Intern supports the AI CoE by identifying opportunities to improve processes, streamline operations, and leverage data-driven insights to drive strategic outcomes. This role blends qualitative and quantitative analysis, organizational research, and cross-functional collaboration.

Intern Opportunities and Scope

  • Conduct interviews, observational studies, and business analysis to generate actionable recommendations.
  • Identify organizational or operational barriers that limit efficiency, adoption, or business value.
  • Collaborate with Finance, HR, Operations, and technical teams to integrate insights into planning and execution.
  • Understand and incorporate complex business, financial, and operational requirements into analysis.
  • Support the evaluation of AI initiatives by clarifying business problems and value hypotheses; identifying expected financial and operational impact.
  • Assist in building and refining: business cases, value levers (cost out, productivity, growth, risk), and success metrics aligned to enterprise goals

Intern Project

  • By the end of the internship, you will deliver a practical output such as: “AI Value Realization Playbook: How Xerox Translates AI Initiatives into Measurable Business Outcomes”
  • This may include: examples of strong vs weak AI business cases, common reasons AI initiatives fail to deliver ROI, early indicators of business value leakage or recommendations for improving value tracking and accountability

Internship success criteria

  • Complete the internship project, prepare and communicate an executive-ready presentation.
  • The interns' work materially improves the clarity, readiness or likelihood of value realization for at least one active AI initiative.
  • Learn meaningful skills to prepare them for future roles in enterprise environments including: confidently preparing and presenting their findings, understanding the value of business expertise combined with AI technologists, and navigating ambiguity, incomplete information and competing stakeholder perspectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define project objectives, scope, and success criteria with a Business CoE Manager or Lead.
  • Conduct research and collect data using interviewing techniques, organizational analysis, and process mapping.
  • Analyze and synthesize findings into clear insights and recommendations.
  • Prepare a written report and executive-level presentation summarizing findings and risks.
  • Present project outcomes to Business CoE leadership and stakeholders.
  • Participate in feedback sessions focused on career and skills development.

Educational Qualifications

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited institution pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Organizational Studies, or related fields.
  • Strong analytical, qualitative, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week (Monday–Friday).
  • Ability to work on-site at the Lexmark office in Lexington, KY, at least 3 days per week (Tuesday & Thursday required, plus one additional day).

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to synthesize complex or ambiguous information into clear insights.
  • Strong written and executive-level communication skills.
  • Curious about how business systems, culture, and operations shape organizational outcomes.
  • Interest in AI solutions and their effective deployment in an enterprise environment.
  • Interest in enterprise strategy, operations, corporate transformation, or financial analysis.
  • Comfort working with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
